Not To Be Against The Fenmen

1 week ago By Steve Whitney

Wisbech Town were the visitors on Saturday as the first-team looked to extend their unbeaten run. It wasn’t to be.

“Disappointing outcome from our point of view as we started the game well. ” Joe Rich

When we met earlier in the season Wisbech had the better of the first half and we had the better of the second.

It was the reverse of that on Saturday. The difference being in July we trailed 2-0 and Saturday we went in level at the break.

We had the better of the opening exchanges and created a few decent chances. We finally took the lead when Danny Mortimer found Jack Wisniewski at the back post who finished well with the keeper coming out to meet him.

Wizza is in the goals at the moment and the delivery forced a smile from Mortimer!

As mentioned above, Wisbech got back into the game when uncertainty in our defence gave their number 9 a chance to finish well with the keeper off the line.

So, 1-1 at the break and we really needed to take a lead in.

The second half was a different story.

Wisbech scored two well-worked goals and we failed to create many opportunities at the other end.

Disappointing outcome from our point of view as we started the game well.

Yaxley away on Tuesday. Hopefully the pitch will hold up with all this rain!!
